A quick ode to web designers

At least twice a week, I find myself sketching headers for this blog – my half-hearted attempt at approximating an amateur web designer.

I find inspiration in beer bottle labels. Other people’s sites. Random typography. Television commercials.

I sketch for a few seconds. I get a rough outline. I stare at it, wondering why my idea isn’t coming across correctly. I scribble out the rest, quickly, without effort.

Then, I throw it onto a pile of sketched headers and blog ideas, my design ideas amounting to nothing more than a rustled mess of recycling.

THIS, my friends, is why I have a ridiculous amount of respect for those who design – especially those who design Web sites. Because couldn’t do it if I tried.

And OH MAN I’ve tried.
