The NRA’s serious “conversation”

I didn’t know what I expected when the NRA came out and said it “…is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.” I guess I foolishly assumed they’d say something that wasn’t an extreme, something other than black or white. Nope.

Instead, let’s solve the gun problem in schools by putting more guns in schools.

Yeah. That’s probably what I should have expected. But the most telling part of the recent press conference from the wonderful folks at the NRA wasn’t in their solution, but by the way they chose to communicate it:

“As I indicated at the outset, this is the beginning of a serious conversation. We won’t be taking questions today.”

One way, no discussion, no chance for rebuttal. I do not think that means what you think it means, guys.
